Save the world’s last stretch of pristine ocean!

Our hunger for seafood has finally brought the world’s fleet of industrial fishing vessels to a vast piece of ocean that has until now been almost untouched by humans, Antarctica’s Ross Sea.

While the international Antarctic Treaty protects the continent’s landmass, it excludes its surrounding seas. Long protected by a thick layer of sea ice that is near impossible to penetrate safely, the Ross Sea is now under increasing threat of exploitation.

The Last Ocean is a visually stunning documentary that explores the Ross Sea and its animal inhabitants while exposing the danger posed to this fragile and as yet poorly understood ecosystem by fishing boats on the hunt for Antarctic toothfish, which is sold to top restaurants in Europe and North America as “Chilean seabass”.
