The Cape Town Recovery Film Festival 2014
25 September – 2 October
The Labia Theatre, Orange Street, Cape Town
This week-long event showcasing films from all over the world will be focusing on tough issues of addiction, substance abuse and mental health. The Festival’s frame is Recovery, and the message is, we do Recover, every day!
Film has a unique ability to document the struggles facing individuals and communities troubled by addiction and other mental health issues, and to capture the hope and joy of Recovery in a wide variety of stories.
The organisers hope this year’s expanded line up of films will inspire, move, agitate, inform and above all entertain those in Recovery, their families and friends, professionals working in the fields of addiction and mental health, and an inquiring public with an appetite to get beyond the stigma and stereotypes concerning addiction – and to gain an understanding of what it means to RECOVER.
